Ceremonies

Weddings

When I meet with couples I discuss their needs and show them samples of ceremonies that I have created. This gives them an idea of the options available to them so they are fully informed of what can be included in a ceremony. What I've come to learn is that one of the major reasons couples decide on a celebrant for their wedding ceremony is so that they have choices. I help couples create ceremonies that are indicative of their relationship. I spend time with people having fun putting together their ceremony. The words used in a ceremony should be special to you and consequently I encourage everyone to have as much personal input as possible. I encourage couples to have an introduction that is centered around their values and beliefs. This can be done with the help of completing a simple questionnaire that I prepare for the couple - but does require a bit of homework from the couple to ensure the ceremony is authentic. I make this process as simple and relaxed as possible. So on the day you can relax and take it all in - knowing you have someone professional and organised to present it on the day.

Today we see people coming together to marry - be it young singles, to blended families, to the more senior people deciding to marry. Whatever your circumstances, I would love the opportunity to help create a ceremony for your very special day. If you have children I would always encourage you to incorporate them into the ceremony. This is a very special time for them also, and how good would it be for them to feel a part of this day.

Renewals of Vows

A Renewal of Vows ceremony allows you to renew your original marriage vows, promises and commitment to each other. Renewing your wedding vows? Congratulations! Since you may have chosen a vow renewal for a variety of reasons, there are a wide variety of words you can say. Many people write their own vows, emphasising the reasons that they have chosen to "do it all over again." Whatever the reason, I will help you prepare a ceremony that expresses all you want to say to each other.

Commitment Ceremonies

A Commitment Ceremony is performed with the same love and joy as a Wedding Ceremony, but without the legalities. A Commitment Ceremony allows a couple to pledge their love and devotion to each other in the presence of friends and family with the same warmth and feeling as if they were being legally married. In Australia, same sex marriages are not legal, but a commitment ceremony enables you to share a special celebration of your love with family and friends. Same sex couples or anyone who does not want the legal components of a marriage can enjoy a loving ceremony expressing their feelings for each other in front of relatives and friends.

Rites of Passage

The Rites of Passage are ceremonies that celebrate the natural transitions that we humans all experience: birth, puberty, maturity, the elder stage and death - hopefully in that order. Neglect in honouring these important milestones of human development with traditional Rites of Passage ceremonies has led to a culture out of touch with its own natural cycles, and therefore out of alignment with the natural world around us.

Naming Ceremonies

The Naming Ceremony can be the basis of a very special family gathering. Naming Ceremonies give families a choice – it is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming them into the community of family and friends. It is also ideally suited to welcoming an adopted child or to embrace stepchildren into a new family. It is an opportunity to declare before family and friends your promises to be as good a parent as you can, and for your adult friends and relatives to confirm their special relationship with your child. The child or children can be any age. A Naming Ceremony is a unique occasion for everyone to feel involved as they pledge their love and support for your child's future development.
